“Sunshine Passbook” illuminates the lives of residents in Yanjiang Village
Yanjiang Village in Xincheng Town, Yizheng City, Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, a national permanent farmland conservation area, embarked on a green energy transformation in 2024. On December 25, 2023, Jiangsu Province’s first energy cooperative, the Yizheng Xuzhong Energy Professional Cooperative, was officially established, marking the beginning of Yanjiang Village’s green development journey.
Residents’ “Sunshine Income”
Villager Liu Hongxi installed 72 solar photovoltaic panels, earning him an initial installation fee of 14,400 yuan and quarterly rental income of 50 yuan per panel, bringing his annual income to over 10,000 yuan. Currently, the cooperative has 103 participating households, with an installed capacity of 2.8 megawatts, generating over 1 million yuan in cumulative income for the villagers. This model allows villagers to increase their assets through their unused rooftops, making “sunshine savings accounts” a reality.
Future Outlook
The cooperative plans to increase its installed capacity to 4 MW by 2025, allowing more villagers to benefit from solar energy and continuously contributing to the well-being of residents.
